L.A. County Department of Health Services (DHS) WDX InternAt — Los Angeles County Department of Health Services
The Workforce Development & Experience (WDX) Unit within the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is seeking motivated and detail-oriented interns to support initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement and organizational development. Interns will gain hands-on experience in workforce development projects, survey analysis, workshop planning, and strategic program support while contributing to meaningful efforts that impact one of the largest public healthcare systems in the nation.
This internship provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in human resources, organizational development, public health administration, or public sector management to gain real-world experience working on high-impact projects.
Tasks:
Interns will be responsible for the following:
1. Survey Support: Assist in managing the Employee Engagement Survey data, including cleaning, organizing, and analyzing results using Excel and other tools.
2. Workshop Planning: Support the design and coordination of workshops by preparing materials, planning breakout sessions, and gathering feedback.
3. Content Development: Create PowerPoint presentations, briefing materials, and other communication tools for various internal stakeholders.
4. Research and Benchmarking: Conduct research on best practices in workforce development and engagement to inform WDX projects and recommendations.
5. Administrative Support: Provide logistical support for meetings, workshops, and other WDX initiatives as needed.
Training:
To facilitate these learning outcomes, interns will receive the following training:
1. General Orientation: An initial session to introduce interns to LA County DHS, its mission, and the role of the WDX Unit.
2. Mentor Meetings: Scheduled one-on-one check-ins with a designated mentor to provide guidance, feedback, and support.
3. Job Shadowing: Opportunities to observe and assist in key workforce development activities and meetings.
4. Workshops and Skills Training: Targeted sessions on data analysis, survey tools, and project management strategies.
5. Task Contextualization: Comprehensive overviews of assigned tasks to ensure clarity and understanding of their impact.
6. Resource Materials: Access to relevant training manuals, templates, and work samples to support task completion and learning.
