School Based Mental Health ServicesAt — Sierra Child and Family - Outpatient Clinic/Headquarters
Students will be embedded in our Wellness Center programs with opportunities to engage students in mental health services, learn how to provide risk assessments to prevent and respond to mental health crises, learn Social Emotional Learning Skill building, co-lead group counseling sessions and be a part of our robust team of mental health providers. We have sites in El Dorado County schools K - 12 with opportunities from El Dorado Hills to the Nevada border.
This field placement opportunity offers students an in person learning environment to build skills in assessment, engagement, treatment planning and interventions. Students will build skills in all of these areas as well as case management, community outreach and navigation services. Students will learn skills to engage in micro and macro systems of care for school based mental health services.
Training will include a combination of shadowing professionals, participating in weekly group consultation and individual supervision to develop skills in all area of our School Based Mental Health Program. Students will be trained in conducting mental health screeners, learn skills in boundary setting, engagement with students, teachers, faculty and parents, co-facilitate group sessions in the Wellness Center. Students will be encouraged to be curious, learn new skills by taking on challenging tasks with a lot of support before and after client interactions. Our training will be in person, in clinical consultation and will students throughout the entire field placement.
