Behavior TechnicianAt — Butterfly Effects
As a Behavior Technician you work directly with the clients' receiving services from a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. The behavior technicians' responsibilities includes but it's not limited to implement the Applied Behavior strategies proscribed by the behavior analyst. The interventions will be individually tailored to each client's needs, but may including teaching communication skills, social skills, or self-help skills. The behavior technician will be under guidance and receive supervision from the behavior analyst.
The student will provide one to one service for their client. They will be provided with a behavior intervention plan and skill acquisition goals for the client, which their supervisor (BCBA) will review with them and observe the student implement with the client. Soft skills will be observed during interactions with the client and their families by the BCBA and with feedback from the family.
The applicant will receive supervision from their supervisor, a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The BCBA will meet with the student and the client for by weekly (or more as needed). During the meeting the BCBA will provide feedback on interventions the student implements, the BCBA will model skills and/or provide direct training of specific tasks. The purpose with the training is that the student can implement the skill with fidelity and accuracy.
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to identify and implement principles related to Applied Behavior Analysis. Secondly, the student will learn collecting data and analyzing data on the client's behavior and progress. The applicant will learn professional skills related to communication and collaboration with their supervisor and caregivers. Other soft skills that can be thought is demonstrating cultural awareness when working with diverse clients and families.
