Opportunity Summary 

Under immediate supervision of the Social Services Practitioner, the Student Intern performs a wide variety of duties supporting social services at SacRT. The position entails assisting coordinating communication with customers identified to be vulnerable and underrepresented, assisting seeking and connecting them to local and regional resources such as social service providers including housing/211, system of care for alcohol/other drugs/mental health, basic needs, and respite centers. The Student Intern is expected to work in partnership with the SacRT system including Regional Transit Police Services and other SacRT personnel.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Learn to serve as a liaison with Sac RT, law enforcement, social service agencies, and the public regarding difficult and/or complex situations related to mental health, substance use, homelessness, and system barriers.

Opportunity Training 

1:1 training and mentorship will be provided on a daily basis to help students develop and improve their social work skills in a setting where many populations are served.
