Opportunity Summary 

This is a highly collaborative position. The student intern will assist the Exhibit Program Coordinator and other team members with daily operations, which may include maintenance of exhibition spaces, possible creation or repair of labels and printing/mounting of labels, in addition to assisting with installation and/or de-installation of exhibitions. The intern will shadow the Exhibit Program Coordinator and two other student curators in the creating, planning, researching, writing, and object selection process for three upcoming exhibitions. The intern may participate in planning and development discussions.

Learning Outcomes  

Understand the importance of collection and exhibition care, including maintenance of exhibition venues.
Understand the research, selection, and writing process for exhibitions.
Understand and/or be able to organize exhibition materials for installation.

Training  

Provide orientation and training with coordinator and peer mentors.
Provide opportunities to observe and discuss exhibition development and planning meetings.
Provide hands-on experience with content/label writing, trimming, and mounting labels for exhibition.
Provide opportunities for installation and de-installation of exhibition.

Tasks/Duties  

Successfully completing daily venue maintenance.
Successfully participate and contribute to department and/or exhibition planning and development meetings.
Successfully synthesize and edit content for exhibition labels.
Successfully assist with six installations and five de-installations during spring 2025.
