Opportunity Summary 

Students will get the opportunity to shadow physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, and physical therapy aides administer high quality, compassionate care to patients in need. Patient population demographics is varied, ranging from pediatic to geriatric, to standard post-operation care, to treating osteoarthritis, to treating patients experiencing neurological conditions, such as stroke.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

How outpatient orthopedic clinics flow, how to administer quality one-on-one care, how to integrate information to generate a customized treatment plan, what it means to provide professional care to patients, and how to guide patients towards a life that is better conducive to optimal health and living

Opportunity Training 

Students will be trained in how to interact with patients, how to administer patient care, how to perform basic sanitation duties, and to ensure proper clinic flow

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students will be working with patients; this is considered a medical facility; therefore, students will be expected to be professional and offer help when needed. Students are not asked to work directly with patients, only to shadow and observe primarily. Students will not be put in a position where their safety may be compromised as students are not asked to interact with or administer care to patients
