Community Services Unit (CSU) InternAt — Alum Rock Counseling Center
Community Services Unit (CSU) interns will provide support to youth in the various CSU prevention and early intervention programs such as the Mentoring & Wellness Program. Interns will support with engagement and retention of youth participating in these programs to reduce the risk of unhealthy behaviors such as truancy, substance use, involvement in gangs, and crime, and to improve attendance and increase students’ commitment to staying in school. Interns will support the well-being of youth and their families, and aid in developing youths' coping skills and increasing their protective factors.
Tasks:
• Provide individualized and group support for youth
• Conduct intakes, risk assessments, and develop individual case plans as needed
• Facilitate workshops, presentations, and pro-social enrichments/field trips
• Lead Botvin LifeSkills classes as needed
• Provide family support including engagement sessions, home visits, and resources
• Conduct follow up contact in a timely manner
• Identify needs and provide resources
• Document and write progress notes on Welligent (electronic health records system)
• Maintain documentation and appropriate client paperwork within expected time frame
• Attend school and community outreach events and disseminate information and program flyers
• Gather and collect data and other evaluation needs
• Collaborate with school and community partners
• Attend meetings and trainings as required by the agency and program
Training:
Initial orientation and onboarding, review of policies and procedures, weekly supervision and meetings, job shadowing, workshops/skills training, overview of assigned tasks, etc.
