Research InternAt — American Institute for Behavioral Research and Technology
The American Institute for Behavioral Research and Technology is looking for talented and highly motivated students to work with our non-profit research team under the supervision of distinguished psychologist Dr. Robert Epstein. Candidates should be self-starters and have strong writing skills. A background in research, statistics, web programming, SPSS, PHP, R, non-profit development, or communications is a plus. Research interns are assigned to one or more projects that match their interests and learn valuable skills as they go with a possibility of coauthorship. Please note that this position requires interns to work on-site in North County San Diego, 10 hours a week. This is an unpaid internship, although some expenses might be covered. Additionally, you will be eligible to receive a letter of recommendation from Dr. Epstein after completing 140 hours of on-site work.
Skills research interns learn or develop while assisting on a research project include statistics, web programming, SPSS, PHP, R, academic writing and editing, data analysis, data visualization, research presentations, and manuscript preparation.
Once students are assigned to a project, they will be assigned their first tasks and given the proper instructional memos to teach them how to accomplish the task. They will have access to the Research Director and the Senior Research Psychologist to ask questions as they arise. They will also have weekly check in meetings with the Research Director and the Senior Research Psychologist to discuss their progress, answer questions, and assign new tasks.
