Program Information

Second Chance started as a concept in 2005 in EOPS – named after the program at City College of San Francisco for formerly incarcerated students. The founders were Maryanne Michaels, Rafael Vazquez, and Rhonda Findling, all in EOPS. It evolved into a support team of staff that supported this population. It then became a student club that started to get off the ground in 2015-16, with Rhonda Findling being the faculty advisor. In Fall 2018, Student Services Vice President Pedro Avila made Second Chance an official Student Services Program, and appointed Rhonda Findling to be the dedicated counselor and coordinator. The program started with about 25-30 students in 2018 and is now at more than 100 students.
