Organization Description

Treating Teen Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders with Kindness and Compassion. Trusted by Parents and Professionals Since 2013.

Muir Wood is a Joint Commision-accredited residential treatment program for teens, 12-17, struggling with mental health and substance abuse. We operate 16 residential facilities in Sonoma County, Clovis, and Riverside, California. In these comfortable and structured environments, our clinicians help teen boys and teen girls - treated separately - explore and process sensitive issues while learning to manage and overcome mental health and substance use issues. Muir Wood emphasizes kindness and compassion over confrontation and control.

We are licensed by the California Department of Social Services (DSS), certified by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) for residential detoxification and treatment, verified by Psychology Today, and are A+ rated by the BBB. To maintain continuity with home schools, clients attend our on-campus, state-recognized learning program recognized by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Program Information

Our Lohrman Lane campus is a large, modern ranch house set on four acres. The property’s small pond is home to ducks, turtles, and Canadian geese. Adjacent to the house is the Muir Wood Learning Center, which offers a wraparound patio where girls can enjoy views of the idyllic Sonoma countryside while they learn.

The large recreation room below the Learning Center is used for music therapy, yoga, reiki, meditation, and other holistic therapies. This unique setting provides spaces that foster privacy and safety to help promote healing
