Student Intern for Youth & Young Adult MinistryAt — The Diocese of Orange
A Student Intern in the Department of Youth & Young Adult Ministry in the Diocese of Orange will under general supervision perform a variety of routine to moderately difficult clerical, administrative or technical duties of a general and specialized nature in support of an assigned project and/or program. The Student Intern may assist with administrative, specialized, paraprofessional, or technical duties. Internships will be tailored and aligned to the educational focus of each student intern.
Tasks:
- Engage, meet, and observe county and city level leadership serving children, adolescents, and families in trainings, parishes, events
• Read, review and study from books, articles, church documents about church frameworks, ministry models and/or leadership styles that impact the work and ministry with children, adolescents and families.
• Curate and co-create content that can be shared with parish and diocesan leadership serving children, adolescents and families including but not limited to blog posts, basecamp posts, canva lists, prayer guides, stations of the cross etc. - Assist in the planning, execution and evaluation of events, projects and activities that serve children, adolescents and families including but not limited to play and pray for families of young children, adolescent leadership retreat, adolescent advocacy training, interfaith youth forum etc.
Training:
• General employer orientation of Diocese as well as onboarding for the youth and young adult department.
• On-going one-on-one meetings and trainings to prepare for upcoming activities and events
• Job Shadowing all coordinators especially young adult coordinator focusing on new and young families.
• Provided with webinars, weekend or night trainings and readings to deepen knowledge of our context and ways of practically serving.
Learning Outcome:
• Grow in understanding and awareness of diocesan ministry, especially the innerworkings of the youth and young families as well as other diocesan ministry offices and collaborators.
• Prepare, engage and assist with various youth and young families leadership activities, meetings and other events.
• Strengthen a variety of skills and/or competencies especially in, but not limited to pastoral leadership, church structures, organizational management, event & project planning and execution and communication-marketing.
• Work in closely with our young adult coordinator who is focused on serving new and young families - parents and children.
