GHJ is currently seeking Audit/Tax rotational interns for the Summer of 2025. You will be treated as a professional and dive deep into projects during the internship.
Internship Length:
The internship will take place onsite at the GHJ office in Downtown Los Angeles from Monday, June 16, 2025 - Friday, August 15, 2025. This is an in-person internship program. Note: GHJ will be closed from Monday, June 30 – Friday, July 4, 2025 for Wellness Week. No work will be performed, but interns will still be paid for a 40-hour work week.
Pay Rate and Hours:
Interns will be paid at a rate of $33/hour. Benefits are not included.
Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Accounting or related field graduating between May 2025 – August 2026.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Excellent customer service skills (internal and external).
- Creative problem solving and research skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
- Highly motivated and interested in taking the initiative for personal growth and development.
- Able to handle multiple priorities, tasks, and simultaneous projects.
- Ability to travel to client locations which may include occasional overnight stays.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Common Audit and Assurance Department Responsibilities:
- Assist with performing audit, review or compilation procedures as assigned by supervisors.
- Assists in proofing financial statements and other documents if appropriate.
- Participate in the planning of our engagements - audits, reviews, or compilations.
- Build relationships with, and speaks to, client personnel to obtain an understanding of their business operations, processes, and functions.
- Documents work completed by preparing workpapers within firm guidelines.
- Prepares and indexes working papers; performs various procedures established under generally accepted accounting principles and generally accepted auditing standards to verify accuracy and validity of client's financial matters.
Common Tax Department Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparing tax returns.
- Participate in tax consulting
- Shadowing other department team members for professional development.
- IRS/FTB audit assistance.
- Participation in consulting projects.
- Communicating with the IRS, FTB, and similar agencies

Tasks:
- Review and complete different components of a tax return without our different Tax service lines.
- Shadow different team members across niches and departments to learn about different accounting work and how work processes are done at the firm.
- Complete and participate in personal and professional training and workshops to build industry knowledge.
- Work with peers to complete a group project on a topic within the accounting industry and present the project in front of the firm's employees.
- Perform audit, review or compilation procedures as assigned by supervisors and proof financial statements.
- Participate in the planning of our engagements - audits, reviews, or compilations - and document work completed by preparing workpapers within firm guidelines.
