About the Internship
Venture Strategic is seeking Summer 2025 interns to work in-person at our Irvine, CA office. This internship is designed for students or recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in strategic communications, public relations, digital marketing, branding, and media relations.
Interns will work directly with industry professionals on real client projects, gaining exposure to various aspects of the industry, including:
- Media & Public Relations – Press outreach, media monitoring, and message development
- Strategic Communications – Crafting impactful messaging and storytelling strategies
- Creative Branding & Content – Assisting with marketing materials and creative content
- Digital & Social Media Strategy – Developing and analyzing social media campaigns
- Political & Public Affairs – Supporting public policy initiatives and campaign strategy
- Event Planning & Stakeholder Engagement – Helping execute events and community outreach initiatives
This is a unique opportunity to experience the intersection of business, politics, and communications in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Internship Requirements & Details
- Location: Irvine, CA (in-person only)
- Office Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Commitment: At least 8 hours per week, with a minimum of two in-office days per week (4-hour sessions each day)
- Academic Credit: Additional hours will be accommodated based on institutional requirements
- Compensation: Unpaid, but school credit may be applied if approved by your institution
Qualifications & Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Political Science, Marketing, Business, or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze news, media trends, and industry insights
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Professional appearance and business-appropriate communication style

Tasks:
Interns at Venture Strategic will engage in professional-level tasks that support real client projects across public relations, digital marketing, and strategic communications. They will assist with drafting press materials, conducting media outreach, and analyzing media coverage. Interns will also support content creation for social media, contribute to branding and marketing materials, and help track digital campaign performance. Additional responsibilities may include research on policy issues, supporting public affairs efforts, and assisting with event planning and stakeholder engagement. These tasks provide hands-on experience and help students apply their academic learning in a fast-paced, real-world agency environment.
Training:
To support student learning and professional development, Venture Strategic offers a structured training experience that includes the following components:
1. General Employer Orientation
All interns begin their placement with a comprehensive orientation session covering company culture, core services, office procedures, project expectations, confidentiality policies, and professional standards.
2. Project-Based Learning & Contextual Task Overviews
Interns are given meaningful assignments with clear context and learning objectives. Staff provide background briefings and examples to ensure interns understand each project’s relevance and strategic goals.
3. Hands-On Job Shadowing
Interns will observe team members in real-time as they engage in media outreach, campaign planning, client presentations, and event execution, offering insight into professional workflows and best practices.
4. Workshops and Skills Development Training
Throughout the summer, interns may attend internal workshops focused on media writing, digital content creation, strategic messaging, and public affairs. These sessions are designed to build industry-relevant competencies.
5. Access to Work Samples and Resources
Interns are provided with sample deliverables (e.g., press releases, campaign plans, creative briefs) to study and reference as they complete their assignments.
This training framework ensures students are supported in achieving key learning outcomes while gaining real-world exposure to the fast-paced environment of strategic communications.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to…
1. Develop and implement strategic communication plans by contributing to real client projects, including media relations, message development, and stakeholder engagement.
2. Create compelling content across multiple platforms, including press materials, marketing collateral, and social media assets, aligned with brand identity and audience engagement strategies.
3. Analyze media coverage and campaign performance using tools for media monitoring, digital analytics, and social media insights to inform future strategies.
4. Collaborate in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment, gaining practical experience in client management, event planning, and integrated communication efforts.
5. Apply public relations and political strategy principles in real-world contexts, especially in sectors such as healthcare, real estate, technology, and public policy.
