Opportunity Summary 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Bonneville Sacramento is offering paid internships in our promotions department, which are semester-long opportunities for college students to gain a richer understanding of the broadcast industry and expand their skill set.  The ideal student(s) will be energetic and outgoing individuals who are interested in representing our stations at station appearances and events in the community.  Hours and shifts will vary from week to week and are based on scheduled events.  We will be flexible in regard to school schedules, but you must be able to work 10-20 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.  There is no guarantee of employment upon completion of internship. 

 Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.

  • This position is an onsite role that requires the employee to regularly work at client location and at station and community events.
  • Employee may also be required to work onsite at our Sacramento office location.
  • Requires a flexible schedule and ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled

 DURING YOUR INTERNSHIP you can expect to provide support to the promotions and sales departments by:

  • Assisting with execution of station events and remotes in the community, including set-up and teardown of equipment and supplies and logistics
  • Preparing signage, promotions, and giveaways for events
  • Interacting with listeners, clients, and on-air talent
  • Maintaining vehicles, banners, and other promotional supplies and materials
  • Assisting with operation of websites and social media pages, including innovative ideas to generate online traffic
  • Assisting with contesting and prize fulfillment

 Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Preferably currently registered as a college/university student, eligible to receive internship credit
  • Must have reliable transportation, with a valid driver license and clean driving record
  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings
  • Able to work between 10 and 20 hours per week depending on school requirements
  • Positive and energetic attitude

 Physical Demands

  • Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds consistently; up top 50 pounds occasionally
  • Able to set up 10x10 tent on your own
  • Willing to be flexible with work environment, i.e., working outdoors in any condition, at festivals, local business, etc.

Tasks:

Design Graphics, edit video, create social content posts that may be used on our sites, create contest folders and demonstrate ability to facilitate prize distribution from start to finish, design and create signage for promotions that could be used as part of our community events, interact with listeners and clients and on-air talent

Training:

New hire onboarding to review all company policies and procedures, plus review the expectations of learning for the duration of the internship, weekly 1:1's with Promotion Director to review progress and set/reset goals, Job shadowing Promotions Assistant's at community events to learn how to best engage with listeners and market our brands when in the community, learn graphics and video for social media, introduction to our brands and the importance of branding for each our radio stations, review of FCC guidelines and how to operate within their regulations for contesting, marketing, etc., including how to write contest rules and fulfill IRS requirements for prizes

Learning outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to execute a station event from concept to recap of final impact, understand FCC regulations on station contesting and be able to facilitate prize giveaways under those regulations, and learn how to use social media to drive traffic to our station brands both over air and digitally.
