To help the student achieve their learning outcomes, goals will be set at the beginning of the internship to formulate a plan of how to achieve them through actual hands-on work. The intern will be given practical and usable training in regards to social media, mission-based marketing, and nonprofit development and communication. Tasks will be assigned to put training skills to use and allow students to showcase what they have learned. Weekly one-on-one meetings will be administered to check with students on the progress of goals and where more training or assistance is required. Students will also be encouraged to offer feedback and suggestions throughout the process as our goal is to immerse them into part of the team.
Interns will have direct communication with all three members of the Fund Development and Communication team, all of which have many years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Interns will report directly to our Development and Communication Administrator, who has a Masters's Degree in Organization Leadership and Strategic Change and Innovation and has over 5 years of experience in social media marketing for non-profits.
This is a unique opportunity for a student to gain cross-department actual hands-on experience. While admin duties are involved (as they are for all team members), students will be creating their own communications plans, writing content, creating graphics, and assisting directly on fundraising campaigns and events.
Learning Outcomes:
-Create a social media communications plan.
-Plan and execute in-store events.
-Train and schedule volunteer staff.
-Create mission-based social media plans
