Television Anchor personAt — VBS TELEVISION NETWORK
VBS stand for Voice of the Broadcasting Station. It is established in 2008. Currently we are one of the largest TV network in America. We broadcast on 2 technologies: With analog technology, we broadcast in 3 substations in Los Angeles, San Jose and San Francisco. With Digital technology, we broadcast in 12 systems covering the whole USA. The position that we want to recruit the interns for student interns majoring in Communications.
We will trained and have them practice to broadcast on TV the daily news.
Tasks:
The interns will have opportunity to demonstrate their learning outcomes by applying what they learn in school about the techniques of communication and then trying to develop them with the assistance of the advisor/coach and supervisor of the station. Hopefully at the end of the course, they will become professional news anchor just as you see on regular TV programs of ABC, CBS NBC.
Some tasks include:
Review text/news for the day
Read text from teleprompter while learning to project their voices
Research for breaking news (optional)
Review text from the screen.
Training:
The intern will be trained by both the professional and experienced anchor persons who will be partners with the interns during the show and by myself after the show. All our senior anchorpersons are the ones who have been anchor persons for a long time. About me, I have done public speaking for over 40 years. I will train intern to build confidence and comfort when delivering the news.
Interns will shadow other anchors and trained by them on how to speak and read the news.
Interns will receive daily feedback on performance
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the internship, the intern will become a professional TV anchor person. The most important outcome at the end of the training is the intern will build in her/or him the confidence and the technique to be a professional anchor persons.
