The 26th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival (Oct. 16th - Oct. 23rd, 2025) is currently seeking interns!

The Festival's internship program offers college students interested in entertainment, the arts and marketing, the opportunity to gain invaluable first-hand experience in event planning, production, digital media, graphic design, sponsorship and more.

About the Festival

The Newport Beach Film Festival seeks to bring to Orange County the best of classic and contemporary filmmaking from around the world. Committed to enlightening the public with a first-class international film program as well as providing a forum for cultural understanding and enriching educational opportunities, the Festival focuses on showcasing a diverse collection of both studio and independent films. The Festival supports the creation and advancement of innovative and artistic cinematic works from both emerging and seasoned filmmakers and proudly embraces the passion, vision, and independent spirit of these talented artists. With the integration of the local community and educational institutions, the Festival stimulates an interest in the study and appreciation of film and encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to participate. 

The Spring 2025 Internship will be in-person at the NBFF office in Newport Beach. 

Interns will learn how an office runs and assist with daily tasks such as answering phone calls, sending business emails, managing data and communicating with staff member, sponsors, and filmmakers. Interns may be assigned to specific departments where they will train one on one with staff members and will be given leadership opportunities and unique experiences to develop their skills and build their resume/portfolio. Interns not assigned to departments will assist multiple departments in tasks and will be given exposure to multiple avenues of the business which will ultimately guide them to discovering their talents and passions. 

Training:

Interns will receive Orientation Training as well as an in-depth training manual that will prepare them for their time at the festival. Interns may be assigned to specific departments and learn tasks such as programming, marketing, sponsorship, filmmaker relations, graphic design, and more. There will be presentations and Q+A sessions with industry professionals as well as staff members to assure students are welcomed into a learning environment that challenges and educates them. At the end of their experience, there will be a closing interview where their accomplishments and improvements will be discussed, and where their hours will be approved and signed off.

2) Communicate clearly, effectively, and persuasively, both orally and in writing in the context of event planning and marketing.
3) Demonstrate the ability to work successfully in a team to achieve a broad variety of event planning goals and marketing projects.
4) Apply effective organization, communication, and time management skills in planning, marketing, and executing special events.
5) Demonstrate appropriate use of measurement and evaluation strategies to assess the value and impact of a special event and partner/sponsor engagement.
