The Race and Gender Equity (RAGE) Project

Organization Description

Founded in 2016 the Race and Gender Equity Project’s vision is to ensure the wellbeing of Black women and youth locally and around the globe. We provide an infrastructure of support to individuals, organizations and communities working to create change. Our programs serve Black youth, and nonBlack youth of color ages 13-26. Our consulting and systems change work focuses on improving public interventions, policies, and practices that impact the health, healing, and success of historically and systemically oppressed communities. Our mission is to harness the power of individual and collective transformation through healing, education, advocacy and research. At RAGE, we create spaces that create change.

Program Information

Students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on work that contributes directly to the wellbeing of Black youth and communities of color. Students will support program implementation and youth engagement by helping to recruit, build relationships with, and provide direct support to youth participants, ages 13–26. They will gain experience in case management and wellness coaching. Students will have opportunities to co-lead youth advocacy teams and ambassador programs, supporting young people to identify issues of concern, build leadership skills, and engage in community-driven systems change. They may facilitate training sessions, leadership development workshops, and youth voice initiatives, all grounded in racial and gender equity. In addition, students may participate in or lead youth participatory action research (YPAR) projects that culminate in presentations, reports, or policy recommendations to influence local institutions and decision-makers. Students will also gain exposure to community collaboration, interagency networking, and partnership-building, including engagement with schools, public agencies, and community-based organizations.
