Opportunity Summary 

The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for the direct implementation of CARD treatment programs to patients with Autism Spectrum Disorders by providing mid-level supervision and direct therapy to patients. Under the guidance of CARD Clinical Supervisors, the Assistant Supervisor works with patients in a variety of settings which include the CARD center, the patient’s home, and the community. The Assistant Supervisor oversees the delivery and data collection of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) procedures and assists in the implementation and design of individualized programs. Additionally, they will assist with additional administrative and clinical tasks as requested by the assigned Clinical Supervisor. Assistant Supervisors report to the center Operations Manager. Extensive initial and ongoing training in ABA therapy techniques and the CARD curriculum is provided. 

Tasks:

1. Write operational definition of problem behavior, take baseline data, conduct descriptive assessment, hypothesize function, design function based BIP
2. Identify functionally equivalent communication target, capture/contrive motivational operation, use effective prompt to evoke communication response, provide specific reinforcement and fade prompts to independent responding
3. visually analyze data, identify lack of progress, rule out potential barriers, modify behavior change procedures and then visually analyze post behavior change modification data to determine efficacy
4. For 2 behavior change procedures: describe clearly, provide rationale, model correct use, provide trainee with opportunity to practice, give positive and corrective feedback until trainee is doing independently
5. For one behavior chain, break down into steps, identify prompt/prompt hierarchy each step, identify chaining procedure and implement with one patient

Training:

General Employer Orientation, Weekly scheduled mentor/overlap meetings with assigned supervisor(s), specific training sessions for skills related to learning outcomes some of which will require reading of relevant research, assignments to implement skills being learned some of which will have completed work products (FBA, BIPs, etc.) and some which will require observed demonstration of skill with patient by assigned supervisor(s).

1. Conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment and Design a Function Based Behavior Intervention Plan
2. Use Behavior Change Procedures to teach Functional Communication Skills
3. Visually Analyze Data and Suggest Modifications to Behavior Change Procedures to Address Barriers
4.Use Behavior Skills Training to Train new Behavior Technicians to implement Behavior Change Procedures
5. Select and Implement Chaining Procedures to teach a Behavior Chain
