Opportunity Summary 

Drafting memos, proclamations, certificates, and other written materials, Joining staff in attending community meetings and events, such as ribbon cuttings, Answering phones and processing mail, Supporting the casework team as they help constituents with federal agencies, Assisting staff with seasonal projects, such as the Congressional App Challenge, Congressional Art Competition, and Service Academy Nominations, Working on other administrative and district-oriented tasks, as directed.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Participants will gain an understanding of the federal casework process and become further engaged with their local communities by interacting with constituents, governments, and other organizations. Interns also develop writing skills by preparing briefing memoranda, certificates, proclamations, and letters of support. Interns are exposed to how local efforts and constituent engagement inform the policymaking process.

Opportunity Training 

Mandated House of Representatives Ethics Training, Cybersecurity Training, and Sexual Harassment Training. Approximately 1 hour each training.
