Tattoo Apprentice Responsibilities:

Learn the fundamentals of tattooing, including skin anatomy, needle techniques, and ink application.

Observe professional tattooing sessions to understand different techniques and client interactions.

Develop drawing and design skills, focusing on creating tattooable artwork.

Gain hands-on experience by practicing on synthetic skin before transitioning to live models.

Learn how to communicate effectively with clients, from consultation to aftercare guidance.

Understand business aspects of tattooing, including appointment scheduling, pricing, and customer service.

Demonstrate dedication, patience, and a strong work ethic throughout the apprenticeship.

Tasks
Description of Tasks:
1. Fundamental Tattoo Training:
• Learn and practice drawing techniques essential for tattooing.
• Develop original tattoo designs and adapt them for different body placements.
• Study various tattooing techniques, including line work, shading, and color application.

2. Hygiene & Safety Compliance:
• Understand and follow strict sanitation and sterilization procedures.
• Learn about bloodborne pathogens and cross-contamination prevention.
• Assist in setting up and breaking down tattoo workstations according to health regulations.

3. Client Interaction & Communication:
• Observe and participate in client consultations to understand the design and placement process.
• Learn how to explain aftercare instructions to clients to ensure proper healing.
• Develop customer service skills to create a welcoming and professional experience for clients.

4. Studio Operations & Professional Development:
• Assist in managing shop supplies and maintaining a clean work environment.
• Observe experienced tattoo artists to understand workflow and time management.
• Participate in discussions about pricing, appointment scheduling, and running a successful tattoo business.

5. Hands-on Tattoo Practice:
• Practice on synthetic skin to develop technical skills before working on live models. • In the final month, apply learned skills by tattooing free clients under professional supervision.
• Receive constructive feedback from mentors to refine techniques and improve execution.

Training
Training Provided:
• Weekly Instruction: Students will receive structured lessons 1-2 times per week, covering tattooing techniques, hygiene protocols, design principles, and industry best practices.
• Mentorship & Support: Students can email their mentor with questions after lessons, and mentors will respond during designated hours each day.
• Hands-on Learning: The studio is open daily, allowing students to observe professional tattoo artists at work, study their techniques, and engage in real-world shop operations.
• Final Month Practical Experience: In the last month of the internship, the studio will help arrange free clients for students to practice tattooing under supervision.
