Tasks:
\n
Throughout the training period, the student will engage in a variety of hands-on task that reflect the everyday responsibilities of case manager in a substance abuse treatment and setting. These task include speaking directly with clients to build rapport and assess their immediate needs, such as housing, identification, transportation, or medical care. The student will learn to prioritize and follow through with these needs to ensure they are addressed before the client is discharged. Additionally, the student will assist in coordinating and providing referrals to appropriate resources and support services, including outpatient treatment programs, so we’re living environments, mental health providers, community base support groups. This practical experience will help the student understand the importance of continuity of care and prepare them to facilitate a smooth and supportive transition to the next level of care for each client.

Training:

In the training setting, the student case manager will develop essential skills through a combination of general employee, orientation, mandatory weekly one-on-one, mentor meetings, shadowing, and assigned task. During orientation, the student will gain foundational knowledge about the treatment, centers, policies, procedures, and philosophy of care for individuals with substance use disorders. Weekly mentor meetings will provide a structured space for guided reflection, feedback, and professional development, allowing the student to strengthen skills in motivational interviewing, treatment planning, and crisis intervention. Through job shadowing, experienced case managers, the student will observe effective client engagement, in interdisciplinary, collaboration, and resource coordination in real time. Assign task will reinforce hands-on learning by involving the student and developing case notes, assisting with intake assessments, and connecting clients to community resources. This comprehensive training structure ensures. The students is well prepared to support clients compassionately and completely through throughout their recovery journey.

Enhance Knowledge of Substance Use Disorder: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the medical, psychological, and social aspects of SUDS, including co-occurring mental health disorders, to provide informed, empathic, and evidence-based care.
Strengthen client engagement and motivational interviewing skills: improve the ability to build trust and rapport with clients using motivational interviewing techniques to support client autonomy, increased motivation for change, and reduce resistance.
Improve treatment planning and goal setting: learn to collaborate develop individualized treatment plans that align with clients unique needs, strengths, and recovery, goals, ensuring plans are measurable, achievable, and regularly updated.
Expand knowledge of community resources, and aftercare services:
Increase familiarity with local housing, employment, legal aid, and mental health resources to support holistic care and continuity of services after discharge or transition.
