Opportunity Summary 

Genesis Bank’s Summer Internship Program is designed to provide early talent with an immersive experience that includes real-world and practical hands-on learning in a corporate business and banking environment. This 8-week paid program offers participants the opportunity to gain firsthand industry exposure and fundamental understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities of Genesis Bank’s operations. Interns will rotate through various departments to gain practical experience in Accounting, Finance, Business Development, Sales, Operations, Marketing, Community Impact, Information Technology, Risk, and Legal.

Tasks:

1. Reviewing new accounts to ensure proper documentation, compliance, and accuracy of client information
2. Completing departmental tasks and projects related to M&A transaction, including due diligence exercises
3. Maintaining documentation of all client and customer interactions and bank relationships using Salesforce
4. Conducting phone, email, and in-person communications with clients to evaluate their needs and propose solutions
5. Financial data entry, analysis, reconciliation and creating reports to support the operations or finance team

Training:

1. We will start by hosting an initial orientation to train the students on foundational knowledge about the bank's departments, policies, and operations
2. Students will then receive training via department shadowing and rotational learning sessions across various departments and teams. This will allow them to learn the functional responsibilities of each department and how they work collaboratively to provide exceptional service and operations for the bank
3. Students will be assigned business-focused tasks and project-based assignments with measurable outcomes
4. Each student will receive regular weekly feedback, guidance, mentorship and coaching support from team leads
5. Each student will have the opportunity to participate in client, prospect, and community partner meetings to engage senior leaders and industry experts

Learning Outcome:

1. Understand the day-to-day operations of a commercial bank and how departments work together to serve clients and support businesses
2. Review financial data, conduct financial analysis, and assist with M&A transaction related tasks, including due diligence functions
3. Communicate effectively with clients, peers, and supervisors through written reports, presentations, emails, and in-person interactions
4. Evaluate regulatory and compliance standards, including policies related to customer data, security, and privacy
5. Apply critical thinking and make informed decisions by interpreting data and key performance indicators (KPIs)
