Associates that join National Communications have an exciting opportunity to rotate\u202fto different teams in the department, gaining hands-on experience that will position them for a successful career in the field of communications.\u202f\u202f 

Tasks:

Social media campaign, communication plan, national communication story, content analysis, stakeholder engagement
1. Writing a Communications Plan:
• The intern will learn how to draft a comprehensive communications plan, which includes setting objectives, identifying target audiences, and outlining strategies and tactics to achieve the goals.
2. Creating Content:
• The intern will engage in creating various types of content, including writing articles and multimedia content. This involves:
• Writing a Story: Likely a care story, which includes conducting interviews, drafting the story, and taking it through the edit/review process.
• Content Analysis: Preparing a case study or presentation about the successes and lessons learned from selected content.
3. Social Media Campaign Execution:
• The intern will learn to outline the creation and execution of a social media campaign from start to finish, including:
• Conducting Research and Monitoring Trends: Understanding current trends and gathering relevant data.
• Pitching Ideas: Effectively pitching ideas based on strategy areas, trends, research, and best practices.
• Creating Visual Content: Using tools like Canva to create images, carousels, infographics, videos, etc.
• Creating Social Copy: Writing social media posts that align with the messaging.
• Collaborating and Applying Edits: Sharing posts with the social team and subject matter experts, collaborating, and applying necessary edits.
• Scheduling Content: Using tools like Hootsuite and Later to schedule posts.
• Community Management: Monitoring comments and conversations on live posts.
• Gathering Insights and Metrics: Collecting data on the campaign's performance and sharing insights with the team.
• Creating New Content for Media News Coverage: Developing content for media coverage.

Training:

hands-on project work, mentorship, participation in team meetings, collaborative learning, learning and development calls/meetings.
1. Scheduled Calls and Meetings:
• The supervisor will schedule calls and meetings with the intern to discuss project plans and provide guidance. This includes content meetings where the intern can learn about content strategy and planning.
2. Hands-On Projects:
• The intern will be involved in hands-on projects, such as writing stories and conducting content analysis. This practical approach allows the intern to apply their learning in real-world scenarios.
3. Collaborative Environment:
• The intern will work closely with the content and social media teams, fostering a collaborative environment where they can learn from experienced professionals and receive feedback on their work.
4. Mentorship and Guidance and Feedback:
• The supervisor will provide mentorship and guidance throughout the intern's rotation, helping them navigate challenges and develop their skills.
• The supervisor will provide feedback on their final presentation and coach them on how to present to the Communications team.
5. Workplace trainings as needed.
