Internship at General Contractor

Tasks:

Directly communicating with designers, engineers and subcontractors
Create and review Requests for Information related to the construction documents on the project
Utilize online software to intake and distribute various levels of construction documents
Coordinate logistics plans with subcontractors on an active construction site
Having involvement the scheduling process and implementation

Training:

Involve the intern in discussions with designers, engineers and subcontractors, on a daily basis
Teach the intern to look for discrepancies in construction documents, on a daily basis
Teach the intern how various software is used in construction for document control, on a daily basis
Involve the intern in subcontractor meetings and site wide discussions, which occur weekly
Expose the intern to scheduling software and have them review the schedule with subcontractors, on a weekly basis

Learning Outcome:

Communicate effectively with a variety of industry professionals
Review construction documents
Understand the process of document control in construction
Understand and implement logistics plans for construction sites
