Graphic Design InternAt — The Hi Sign

Opportunity Summary 

This position is for a person who needs experience dealing with the public in a professional setting. You will be educated in practical marketable skills turning graphic design into a marketable product. You will be dealing with large companies and municipal entities. You will shadow a professional in the industry as they communicate with clients and take ideas to end products.

Tasks:

-Answer Emails
-Create vector art files
-Communicate with municipal and private entities about their signage needs
-Make changes to Computer files provided by clients to make them producible artwork
-Work Directly with school districts, Fire departments, and private companies listening to their needs and providing possible solutions to their needs.

Training:

Post On-boarding, the student will be given a basic graphic design evaluation to determine skill levels on certain computer tasks. After skill level is established. one on one training using live projects will begin. Training consists of teaching the intern about professional standards, Production basics, and graphic file creation and setup. The Intern will be asked to shadow as tasks are completed post training to teach them the practical applications of effects and file orientation in real projects.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:
1) Communicate with clients in a professional setting, learning the fundamentals of production
2)Operate the software to use the printers and other machinery
3)Take complex graphics and requests and convert them to real world products.
