Opening Doors for Change Makers - CBMC - Summer 2025At — Community Builders for Monterey County (CBMC)
Join Community Builders for Monterey County (CBMC) in an important effort to shift how we understand and engage with community work. We’re building a cause-based nonprofit resource as a tool that helps people connect with organizations based not on what they do, but on why they do it. Instead of searching by services, users will be able to explore nonprofits aligned with the root causes they care most about — from homelessness and mental health to food insecurity, youth empowerment, environmental action, and more.
2 Service Learner Spots
Your Role:
- Research and identify nonprofits, community initiatives, and grassroots groups, local government programs throughout Monterey County.
- Categorize each by the social issue they address.
- Write short, locally grounded summaries of each cause to highlight the real challenges and opportunities for change in our community.
Whatever cause you're passionate this is a chance to learn, contribute, and help others connect with purpose.
Training will initially focus on an overview of the project, process for collecting and organizing information and ongoing support at every phase.
Opportunity Supervision:
We hold weekly in person or zoom meetings to support the students and their work. We are open and available for questions, ideas and feedback.
