Duties for this Job
- Maintain a fun and safe environment.
- Engage the clients with their favorite activities and hobbies.
- Help aid the clients’ cognitive, social, and behavioral development in a positive way.
Some experience is necessary; paid training is available and rewards are based on performance and attendance.
Our Caregivers work one-on-one with special needs kids in the client's homes providing a range of in-home non-medical care services including:
- Social Activities: playing/interacting with client
- Mobility Assistance: help clients navigate

Work Location: In Client's Homes
Tasks:
Provide clients with social and emotional support
Play boardgames, video games with clients
Assist clients with personal care if needed, including dressing, personal hygiene, and eating
Reading books, doing puzzles
Being a role model to help clients become independent
Training:
There is a general employer orientation that is mandated for students. Should students feel uncomfortable with being one-on-one with a client, we would schedule them with a more seasoned caregiver, shadowing their actions.
Learning Outcome:
At BHH Respite, students practice core competencies like patient communication, client observation, documentation, time management, and cultural sensitivity—all foundational to both medical and non-medical care environments.
