TASK: Under the guidance and supervision of Greenfield Community Science Workshop staff, facilitate engaging, hands-on science activities in schools and public spaces.
DUTIES:
- Assist students in building hands-on science projects.
- Facilitate science exhibits for the public.
- Support science classes by helping with instruction.
- Assist with program logistics, including preparing project materials and setting up classrooms.
- Assist with the planning and execution of educational field trip to local/regional destinations.
PROGRAM TIMES & LOCATIONS: Most Greenfield CSW programs take place in Greenfield, but we also serve communities throughout South Monterey County, from Chualar to San Ardo.
- Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8am-7pm
- Wednesday: 1pm-6:30pm
- Saturday: 10am-4pm
DESIRED:
- Bilingual: Spanish / English desired
- Students from South Monterey County are strongly encouraged to apply
REQUIREMENTS:
- Interested in teaching and working with young students
- Interested in building and learning from hands-on science projects
- Science/Math background desired
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Students may be required to lift heavy items over 25 lbs or be potentially exposed to certain environmental conditions such as extreme weather, wearing protective gear, or applying sunscreen.
Students will be working in a shop environment and should be conformatble to work in dusty /messy conditions.
Students are not expected to know how to use tools, but should be open with the idea of learning how to use hands tools and simple power tools (e.g. power drill).
Students will have daily interactions with the public.
