Baseball Social Media InternAt — CSUF - Athletics
This position will be responsible for the creation, production and management of social media content for the Cal State Fullerton Baseball Program. This content will encompass multiple forms of media including but not limited to X, Instagram, and TikTok. The intern will collaborate with other social media interns to create new ideas and improve engagement on each platform to gain a better following for the baseball program. The social media team will be responsible for attending team practices, workouts and competitions located at Cal State Fullerton to take pitcures, videos or produce any other content ideas they may have. The social media team will have direct contact with the team's players, staff and other student managers invloved with the program. The team will report back to the baseball staff for approval, but will be given creative freedom to produce content.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the internship, the student will be able to understand what a work enviornment in a sports setting is like, know how to operate multiple social media accounts for a sports organization, understand how to produce content for social media, and know the basics for photo, video, graphic editing when it relates to social media. This is just a list of some of the main learning outcomes among others.
Training
For training, the student will be assigned to being on the field during team workouts to take pictures, they will need to make content off the field with players (ex. Videos for TikTok, etc..), and the student will also be responsible for creating graphics for our social media accounts in order to promote the program and improve engagement. Through this process, they will learn the ins and outs of running social media platforms for a baseball program, they will learn basics of graphic design and editing, they will learn time management and organization while working in a sports setting, they will learn how to work with other departments in a professional setting, and much more related to working in a sports setting.
Most of the internship training will be taught through action and assigned tasks. The student will be given the freedom to put their work and ideas into action, but they will have to get everything approved by a supervisor before it is posted to program accounts. Also, they will meet with a supervisor regularly to check in on ideas, progress and make sure they are completing content that is assigned.
Learning Outcomes:
To help the student achieve the proposed learning outcomes, we will allow the student access and freedom in the work environment, we will give the social media team specific tasks related to team content, and also ask the social media teams to produce new ideas consistently to help engagement.
The intern will demonstrate the learning outcomes by attending team events as much as possible within reason, producing and publishing content to our social media accounts, and working with the other social media interns among others.
