Occupational Therapy Intern/VolunteerAt — Cornerstone Therapies
An OT volunteer assists occupational therapists with various tasks to support patient care and the smooth operation of therapy sessions. Responsibilities may include assisting with therapy activities, maintaining a clean and organized therapy environment, and performing clerical duties.
Tasks:
-ensure work space is clean and tidy
-assist OT with setting up/prepping for sessions
-making copies of assessments and assisting with scoring
-observing therapists in session/ during evaluations
Training:
Mandatory in person orientation. Daily check-ins, meetings when requested by volunteer/intern. Routine tasks and daily assignments/ assigned tasks. Clinical observations.
Learning Outcome:
1. By the end of the academic internship, the student will know the role of OT in patient care (pediatrics)
2. By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to identify the different assessment tools utilized in pediatric OT
3. By the end of the academic internship, the student will be familiar with funding sources and how services are approved.
4. By the end of the academic internship, the student will have knowledge of the different disciplines at the facility and their role.
