Opportunity Summary

Volunteering with Young Life is a meaningful way to combine your heart for teaching with real-world experience mentoring high school students. You’ll build authentic relationships, lead fun and impactful activities, and grow in your ability to connect with youth outside the classroom. Whether it’s showing up at school events, leading small groups, or going to camp, Young Life gives you the chance to walk alongside students and share life with them. It's more than volunteering—it’s a chance to be part of something that lasts.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes

By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned how to build meaningful relationships with youth, lead with authenticity and compassion, and create a welcoming environment for all students. They will gain hands-on experience in mentoring, communication, and team collaboration—skills that directly translate to the classroom and beyond. Students will also develop a deeper understanding of servant leadership and the impact of consistent presence in a young person’s life.

Opportunity Training

Students who volunteer with Young Life receive thorough, hands-on training designed to equip them for impactful leadership. Training includes regular leadership meetings that focus on spiritual growth, relationship-building, and practical skills for working with youth. Volunteers learn how to engage with students through contact work, lead fun and meaningful club activities, and prepare for summer camps with safety and leadership in mind. Throughout the experience, students are mentored by experienced leaders who offer guidance, encouragement, and support. This training not only prepares them for their role in Young Life but also builds valuable skills they can carry into teaching, ministry, and other leadership roles.
