SUD Counselor InternAt — Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse (LACADA)

Intern will work directly with substance use disorder counselors facilitating groups, working on treatment plans, and understanding how substance use disorder treatment works.

Tasks:

Students will be able to demonstrate their learning outcomes by facilitating a group, developing treatment plans, and explaining the process of residential treatment.

Training:

Training will include shadowing of group facilitation, one-on-one mentoring with counselor, and documentation training.

Learning Outcome

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to understand the treatment process of addiction, know how to facilitate groups in a residential setting, and be able to work with interdisciplinary teams to treat addiction.
