Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned how to design and implement strategic outreach initiatives that drive real-world social impact. Interns will gain hands-on experience in community engagement, digital communications, and partnership building, all within the context of a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting underrepresented women in entrepreneurship and leadership. Specifically, interns will: Develop and execute outreach campaigns that support ella STARTUPS’ mission of empowering diverse women founders. Learn how to identify, engage, and nurture partnerships with community-based organizations, educational institutions, and potential collaborators. Strengthen public speaking and presentation skills by representing the organization at local events, webinars, or virtual summits. Gain experience with email marketing platforms, CRM tools, and social media to amplify campaign reach. Conduct outreach performance assessments using key metrics and data to refine strategies. Learn to center equity and inclusion in communications and outreach work, ensuring culturally competent engagement with historically marginalized communities. Participate in leadership meetings and brainstorming sessions with nonprofit executives, offering ideas and receiving mentorship from women leaders across sectors. This internship is ideal for students passionate about social justice, entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment, marketing, or nonprofit work. Interns will leave with portfolio-worthy projects, new professional connections, and a clear understanding of how inclusive outreach drives systemic change.

Opportunity Training 

Training is tailored to the intern's needs and may include written or digital media lessons or direct-support training in a one-on-one setting via phone or video conferencing. Interns will receive a comprehensive onboarding to understand the mission, vision, and values of ella STARTUPS, with special emphasis on equity-centered outreach strategies. Throughout the internship, students will be supported with: Live strategy sessions and mentorship from nonprofit and marketing professionals. Hands-on guidance in tools commonly used for outreach, including email marketing platforms, Canva, social media schedulers, and basic CRM systems. Templates and real-world examples of past outreach initiatives to support learning and spark creativity. Opportunities to shadow leadership in meetings, community engagements, and collaborative planning calls. Ongoing feedback loops to help interns refine their approach, grow in confidence, and build career-ready skills. Training is not just task-based—it’s leadership-focused. Our goal is to prepare interns to step into future professional roles with a strong foundation in inclusive communications, nonprofit advocacy, and community-centered program design.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

This is a fully remote opportunity. There are no physical safety concerns or in-person requirements. Interns will perform all tasks in a virtual setting and are not expected to travel or work on-site.
