Opportunity Summary
The USC Sports Performance Internship helps prospective students shadow, learn from and help implement Strength & Conditioning programs with current certified S&C coaches to our student athletes.
Tasks:
- Assist with implementation of sports performance programs
- Engage in continuing education learning objectives on a weekly basis based on our in house curriculum
- Help set up and tear down of S&C sessions
- Engage in objective assessment techniques (Sport Science) of student athletes
Training:
- Our training consists of a 180 page in house curriculum with 6 separate assignments and a final presentation in front of the sports performance staff.
- Additionally, opportunities for hands on coaching and training will be administered based on the level of the intern.
Learning Outcomes:
- By the end of the academic internship the student will be able to:
- Understand general sports performance program design and energy system development as they relate to Sports Performance
- Feel comfortable applying coaching principles as taught by USC coaches
- Have a thorough understanding of the collegiate athletics space and the roles and responsibilities of a sports performance coach.
Additional risk specific to this opportunity
Involves use of heavy weight lifting equipment. Student should ensure they receive proper training in all equipment prior to using this equipment.<\/p>
