Opportunity Summary 

Work directly with City of San Marcos Watershed Program staff to implement programs to comply with the San Diego region Municipal Stormwater Permit and to take actions to help improve the water quality of surface waters throughout the City of San Marcos.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Students will get hands on experience working with a local municipality and will learn how local government works within their community. Students will specifically learn about how the Watershed Program is implemented and will gain significant knowledge of stormwater principals.

Opportunity Training 

Students will receive training on basic office tasks and common software applications. Students will be trained on fundamental stormwater principals. The length of time is dependent on different factors.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

The majority of the work will occur within a typical office setting. Fieldwork may be included and general safety procedures will be reviewed with students prior to conducting fieldwork.
