The Bridge Hospice team is trained to manage all symptoms especially related to end-stage illnesses, including pain, wound, and respiratory management, while attending to the patient’s nutritional and safety concerns. With an interdisciplinary team approach. Bridge Hospice’s team cares for the patient as if they were part of our family with total respect for all physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
Program Information General Description of what students will be doing at this Site: A hospice intern typically supports both administrative and field-based operations, gaining valuable experience in end-of-life care.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Support: Assisting with filing, data entry, preparing patient charts, and organizing medical records.
Communications: Answering phones, responding to emails, and coordinating appointments or volunteer schedules.
Patient and Family Support: Preparing informational packets, comfort kits, or bereavement mailings for families.
Team Collaboration: Attending interdisciplinary team meetings to observe care planning and learn about hospice operations.
Quality Assurance: Assisting with surveys, audits, or tracking compliance and documentation.
Patient Visits: Accompanying nurses, social workers, chaplains, or volunteers on home or facility visits to observe care delivery.
Companionship: Providing emotional support, conversation, or non-medical assistance to patients (as appropriate and trained).
Family Support: Observing or participating in providing emotional and logistical support to caregivers or loved ones.
Bereavement Services: Assisting with follow-up calls or visits to families post-loss, if trained and approved by supervisors.
Community Outreach: Participating in educational or awareness events, health fairs, or volunteer recruitment initiatives.

Interprofessional opportunities available for the student: Overall, a hospice intern gains exposure to the compassionate, interdisciplinary care model central to hospice, while learning about medical ethics, communication skills, and the realities of terminal illness care.
trainings/ staff meetings offered or required: Hospice orientation is conducted before interns starts to receive a better understanding of hospice care. Interns are invited to attend weekly interdisciplinary meetings with the medical director, RN case managers, Social Workers, Chaplain, and other key personal caring for patients needs.
