Minaret Academy is offering a dynamic, hands-on internship for a motivated student interested in social media management, branding, and community engagement. The Marketing and Social Media Intern will support the school’s marketing team in developing digital content and promoting school events and programs. This internship provides a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven private school environment while building professional skills in marketing and communication.
Tasks:
Duties and Responsibilities:
Content Creation for Social Media:
Design visually appealing and brand-aligned posts using Canva and other tools.
Write compelling captions and calls to action tailored to the Minaret Academy audience.
Content Calendar Management:
Assist in planning, organizing, and scheduling social media content across platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook) using a weekly or monthly calendar format.
Campaign and Event Promotion:
Develop digital marketing materials for upcoming school events, holidays, and special programs.
Coordinate with staff to gather necessary information and media (photos, videos, quotes) to include in posts.
Audience Engagement Monitoring:
Track performance metrics (likes, shares, reach) and report engagement trends to the supervisor.
Make content recommendations based on engagement analysis and audience feedback.
Brand Consistency & Compliance:
Ensure all published materials are aligned with the school’s brand, Islamic values, and communication tone.
Apply branding guidelines accurately to maintain visual and messaging consistency.
Project Collaboration & Communication:
Attend weekly check-ins with the internship supervisor to discuss progress, receive feedback, and set goals.
Communicate professionally with staff to coordinate approvals and gather content for school marketing.
Media Library Organization:
Organize and label digital media assets (photos, graphics, videos) for future use in the school’s shared drive.
Research & Benchmarking:
Research trends in educational and nonprofit social media strategy to propose improvements or new post ideas.
Professional Conduct and Time Management:
Demonstrate accountability by meeting deadlines, responding to feedback, and managing tasks independently during scheduled hours.
Training:
To facilitate the learning outcomes of this internship, the student will receive the following training:
General Orientation (Mandatory): At the start of the internship, the student will attend an orientation session introducing Minaret Academy’s mission, values, communication style, and branding guidelines, as well as school policies and expectations.
Weekly One-on-One Mentor Meetings: The intern will meet weekly with the supervisor to review progress, receive feedback, discuss upcoming tasks, and reflect on learning goals and outcomes.
Overview and Contextualization of Tasks: All assignments will be introduced with a clear explanation of objectives, context, and expected outcomes to help the intern understand their relevance and develop strategic thinking.
Provision of Work Samples and Templates: The intern will be provided with sample posts, marketing materials, and content calendars to guide them in developing their own deliverables.
Skill-Based Training: The intern will receive hands-on training in using tools such as Canva, Google Workspace, and Instagram to create, schedule, and evaluate social media content.
Job Shadowing: When possible, the intern will observe internal meetings and project planning sessions related to event promotion and school outreach to gain insights into the broader communication strategy.
Ongoing Support and Feedback: Constructive, personalized feedback will be given regularly to support skill development and ensure alignment with the school’s messaging and professional standards.
