Opportunity Summary 

Tasks:

  • Perform a wide variety of administrative duties to support the HR department (i.e. letters, reports and forms).
  • Assist in recruiting and orientation/on-boarding activities (i.e. coordinate and schedule interviews and orientation).
  • Assists in maintaining and storing employee training records, and distributes records to appropriate personnel as required.
  • Maintain all department records in an orderly, secure and confidential manner.
  • Maintain employee communications, employee boards, compliance notices, etc.
  • Prepare new hire onboarding packets & participate in new hire orientations.
  • Maintain an orderly store office, procuring supplies as needed.
  • Collecting and verifying payroll information, assisting with tax and benefits administration.
  • Contribute to overall administrative efficiency and compliance utilizing existing processes and developing new systems.
  • Perform other duties as necessary or appropriate to the position, including data entry, filing and various errands to support staff.

- Research HR requirements via ADP HR portal and state websites (such as the EDD etc.)
- Send onboarding emails with corresponding paperwork
- Print & bind new hire orientation packets
- Print & post updated labor posters
- Audit and maintain employee files
- Update and distribute key internal documents
- Participate in documenting and delivering performance evaluations and feedback.

Training:

- Initial orientation meeting outlining internship objectives and expectations
- Mentorship meetings and one-on-one training
- Access to internal HR documents and third-party resources
- Shadowing ownership during candidate interviews and onboarding meetings
- Weekly check-in meetings to answer questions, train on new tasks and review work completed.

Learning Outcome:

- Understand the HR business cycle, from recruitment through termination.
- Put together HR onboarding packages
- Navigate state resources for HR compliance
- Run a new hire orientation meeting
- Understand key legal compliance measures
- Respond to candidate inquires and employee questions or concerns
