Site Program InternAt — Age Well Inc.
We provide resources to Orange County’s older adults that promote their vitality and support their independence. Our programs and services aim to achieve; No Senior Goes Hungry. Good Health & Wellbeing & Support to remain in their own homes and in the communities they cherish.
Tasks:
- Help our site managers assist Age Well participants with our lunch program and congregate meals.
- Help with packing meals and home-delivered bags for other staff to deliver.
- Assist with quarterly and annual assessments for participants.
- Support seniors with the completion of intake forms, registration forms, and Acuity forms for site programs.
Training:
Training is provided to the interns by their assigned site managers.
Initial online and video orientation, and detailed on-site training with site managers for tasks, and regular weekly meetings with ongoing feedback.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to do the following:
Senior Care Programs & Services
Interns gain hands-on knowledge about essential services such as Meals on Wheels, senior transportation, case management, and social wellness programs. They'll understand how these programs support aging populations and promote independence.
Community Outreach & Engagement
Interns often assist in organizing events, conducting wellness checks, or interacting with seniors, learning how to build relationships and trust within the community.
Nonprofit Administration
Interns may be involved in data entry, scheduling, communications, or donor relations. This helps them understand the inner workings of a nonprofit organization, including budgeting, grant writing, and volunteer coordination.
Geriatric Health & Wellness
Exposure to senior-specific health education programs allows interns to learn about common age-related conditions and preventative care strategies in partnership with healthcare providers.
Empathy & Interpersonal Skills
Through direct service and observation, interns develop soft skills such as empathy, patience, and effective communication—especially valuable when working with elderly clients and their families.
