Opportunity Summary
This internship offers hands-on experience in applying design research and user experience methods to community-based creative programming. Student interns will collaborate with the Capital Creative Alliance to develop, test, and refine feedback systems for creative events, culminating in on-site implementation during Design Week Sacramento. The internship provides opportunities to strengthen professional skills in research, design strategy, communication, and collaboration while contributing to a meaningful regional initiative.
Opportunity Learning Outcomes
- Conduct user research through event observation, secondary research, and engagement with participants to identify feedback needs and opportunities.
- Develop and prototype multiple design strategies for feedback collection, applying principles of user experience and participatory design.
- Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to refine, implement, and evaluate a feedback system for public events.
- Demonstrate professional skills in project planning, communication, and teamwork in a community-engaged setting.
- Produce a final report that synthesizes research findings, evaluates methods, and proposes recommendations for future practice.
- Reflect on personal growth and professional development through the internship experience.
Opportunity Training
- Research & Strategy Development: Conduct observations and secondary research; generate and present multiple proposed feedback strategies.
- Prototyping & Testing: Collaborate with CCA to test strategies through role-play, simulations, or small-scale events.
- Implementation: Assist with on-site deployment of the selected feedback system during Design Week Sacramento.
