Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this opportunity, students will be able to apply core concepts of healthcare administration in real-world settings, translating classroom learning into practical experience. Students will gain exposure to the complexities of insurance claims, billing procedures, and reimbursement systems, as well as the legal and ethical frameworks that guide healthcare operations, including HIPAA and Medicare/Medicaid regulations. Through hands-on involvement in process improvement initiatives, interns will strengthen their problem-solving and critical thinking skills while contributing to projects that enhance operational efficiency and patient outcomes. The internship will also help students refine their professional communication abilities, enabling them to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and interact with patients in a respectful and informed manner. Lastly, students will gain clarity about potential career paths in healthcare administration, leadership, and policy, leaving the program with a clearer sense of direction and purpose in their professional journey.

Opportunity Training 

Students will be provided training in regard to AmeriPharma's internal system, engaging with data entry, HIPAA regulation, and compliance organization. This contemporaneous training will provide a preliminary infrastructure to help understand AmeriPharma's process while continuing to refine their skills as their internship progresses.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

At AmeriPharma, protecting sensitive healthcare data is a top priority. Interns will receive training on HIPAA compliance, patient privacy, and secure data handling protocols. Access to records is role-based and monitored, with strict adherence to security policies including encryption, secure logins, and proper disposal of confidential materials. Interns must sign a confidentiality agreement and are held to the same legal and ethical standards as staff. AmeriPharma minimizes data breach risks through audits, cybersecurity safeguards, and a strong culture of accountability.
