Activities Department InternAt — Ivy Terrace at Fullerton
The responsibilities will include direct contact with the residents and their families. They will also be able to conduct tours for new prospective clients, as well as assisting in coordinating events and activities at our community which includes collaborating with the residents and their families. This position will be more client centered, still with some experience of creating business files for the incoming residents.
Tasks:
The student will conduct tours for prospective residents and their families. They will also assist in coordinating events and activities at the community which will require collaboration with the residents and their family members. This position is highly client-centered, with the occasional training of creating business files when new residents move in.
Training:
The student has already received prior training necessary for this position and we will now be incorporating bi-weekly scheduled meetings for proper evaluations. The student will also have the opportunity to shadow the activities director to see how he is able to bring the residents together in a familiar manner. The student will also receive feedback on said activities.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to effectively communicate with the elderly population, as well as with the families. The student will also have the confidence to host activites by themselves in order to help promote a purposeful quality of life for the residents. The student will also feel comfortable giving tours of the community, ensuring that the prospective residents and their families feel welcomed.
