Psyc 300 Teaching Assistant - Professor B. AliAt — CSUF - College of Humanities & Social Science
Grade assignments, host office hours, help with constructing material for the class, conducting lightly guided readings/literature review for students to use in class.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the internship, the student will be able to effectively guide and assist other students in learning R and research methodology. Students will also have the tools to conduct self-guided literature reviews, and know how to engage professionally as a mentor.
Training
- Hosting office hours: office hours are a great way to engage with student. Holding a weekly office hour to talk with students and review material with them is a great way to learn about the mentoring role.
2. Literature review: throughout the course, I will ask for a few literature reviews to provide as supplemental or required readings for the students. While they will have guidance, self-employed and free exploration of literature will train ability to do so moving forward in your career.
3. Effective review training: consistency is important for mentoring scholars. Lack of consistency in how we grade can leave confusion to the students. We will have a few training meetings in which we will go over how to provide feedback to students in the class.
