The Pre-K/Kindergarten Teacher Intern will gain hands-on experience in early childhood education by supporting classroom management, curriculum planning, instructional delivery, and assessment practices. Under the guidance of experienced teachers and administrators, the intern will actively participate in implementing Montessori-inspired methods that foster independence, creativity, and social-emotional growth in young learners. This position will prepare the intern for future teaching roles by developing practical classroom skills, professional communication, and leadership in an early childhood education environment.
Tasks:
Assisting in the preparation and delivery of Montessori-based lesson plans and hands-on learning activities.
Supporting classroom management by guiding transitions, maintaining routines, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Conducting student observations and documenting developmental progress using appropriate assessment tools.
Leading small-group and individual instruction to reinforce learning objectives and support diverse student needs.
Collaborating with the teaching team to create classroom materials, prepare learning centers, and design thematic projects.
Engaging with parents and families during drop-off, pick-up, and special events to promote strong school–family connections.
Participating in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and reflective discussions with mentor teachers.
Training:
Initial Orientation: Overview of school policies, classroom expectations, working practices, child safety, and emergency procedures.
Mentorship & Observation: Intern will shadow lead teachers during the first two weeks to observe best practices in lesson delivery, classroom management, and parent communication.
Weekly Check-Ins: One-on-one meetings with the mentor teacher to discuss progress, challenges, and professional growth opportunities.
Ongoing Feedback: Real-time coaching and constructive feedback during classroom activities to support skill development.
Midterm & Final Evaluations: Formal assessments to review performance against learning outcomes and provide recommendations for continued professional growth.
