Volunteer / Officer WorkerAt — CareChoices Hospice & Palliative Services
Volunteers will participate in patient encounters, providing companionship and supportive presence, in person or over the phone. They will assist with bereavement services, such as phone calls, support groups, and follow-up with families. Volunteers can assist the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team directly in auditing medical paperwork, assembling charts, reviewing documentation and managing medical supplies. Efficiency and Accuracy is of utmost importance. Great opportunity to gain valuable healthcare/medical experience working directly with extraordinary staff.
Tasks:
In person and over phone patient and family encounters, assisting with bereavement services, collecting, sorting, and filing medical documents auditing for accuracy and compliance. Preparing medical documents, charts and supplied for Hospice use.
Training:
Orientation and continuing education by nurses, chaplains, social workers, and doctors about topics relates to hospice like history of hospice, self-care, dementia, grief, advance healthcare directives and more.
Mentored by team social workers and managers ensuring growth in collaboration with other disciplines.
Learning Outcome:
Will gain understanding about hospice services.
Will gain confidence in collaborating with other team members in healthcare setting.
Will gain skills to grasp the different options for employment in end of life healthcare, including the differences between field work and office work.
