Opportunity Summary 

Join the Community Schools team at César Chávez Middle School and gain experience supporting students, families, and school programs. As a Community Schools Intern, you will have the opportunity to assist with classroom support, student engagement activities, and the coordination of community-based programs and services that help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this internship, students will have developed practical experience and professional skills that prepare them for careers in education, youth development, and community engagement, including: Classroom Support & Instructional Strategies Experience assisting teachers with small-group instruction and differentiated support Exposure to diverse learning styles and student needs Practice with behavior management and positive reinforcement techniques Student Engagement & Mentorship Building rapport and fostering connections with middle school students Supporting students’ social-emotional development through mentorship Gaining insight into barriers to student success and strategies to address them Program Coordination & Community Partnerships Hands-on experience coordinating school-based programs and services Collaborating with community partners to support student and family needs Learning how to connect families with academic, wellness, and enrichment resources Professional Growth & Future Career Readiness Strengthening communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Building a professional network with educators, school staff, and community organizations Gaining insight into educational pathways, credentialing, and careers in teaching

Opportunity Training 

All interns will receive comprehensive onboarding and ongoing support to ensure they are prepared to perform their responsibilities effectively and confidently. Training will include: Orientation and Program Overview Classroom Support Training Ongoing Coaching and Check-ins
