Service Learning StudentAt — Roundhouse Aquarium Teaching Center (managed by the Oceanographic Teaching Stations, Inc.)

Opportunity Summary 

This opportunity is geared towards folks looking to strengthen their communication with diverse audiences (ex. 1 on 1 interactions, groups of all ages, formal classes of 40 children, our own volunteer base), expand their understanding of local marine life, and receive a variety of tasks for less-redundant experiences. Programs SLSs assist with student education classes, help with public education, join community outreach events, and learn to manage volunteers.

Opportunity Training 

Yes, training will be provided and our team will check in with students to asses their comofort levels before assigning more responsibilities.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

We interact with hundreds of folks in a day (guests and students), and cold/flu seasons can be prevalent especially when working will young children. The Roundhouse offers face masks to those who prefer to use them.
