Opportunity Summary 

This internship provides hands-on experience working with students in Adapted Physical Education and the general PE population. Interns will assist teachers in delivering inclusive activities, modifying exercises to meet diverse needs, and supporting student engagement, safety, and skill development. The experience aims to build practical knowledge in adapted physical education, communication, and instructional techniques within a school setting.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned how to adapt physical activities for diverse abilities, effectively assist in PE instruction, communicate with students and staff, ensure a safe and inclusive environment, and develop practical skills in teaching and supporting both Adapted PE and general PE classes.

Opportunity Training 

Students will receive training in adapted physical education strategies, including proper supervision techniques, activity modification for diverse abilities, and effective communication skills. Orientation will cover school policies, safety procedures, and working collaboratively with PE staff to ensure an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students must follow all school safety policies, including proper supervision of activities, use of equipment, and adherence to emergency procedures. They will be trained on how to safely assist students with diverse abilities, maintain a hazard-free environment, and respond appropriately to any accidents or injuries.
