Morning Services at Interfaith offer a welcoming and supportive environment where individuals and families facing hardship can access essential resources to start their day with stability and dignity. Each morning, clients are offered a warm and nutritious breakfast, ensuring that no one starts the day hungry. They also have access to showers, laundry facilities, clothing, and hygiene supplies to promote their health and well-being. In addition, case management and referrals connect participants to housing, employment, behavioral health services, and other supportive resources, while the compassionate community space fosters encouragement, trust, and opportunities for growth. As the first point of contact for many entering Interfaith’s continuum of care, Morning Services address immediate needs while creating pathways to long-term stability, healing, and independence, playing a vital role in empowering the community’s most vulnerable members.
Applied Trauma-Informed Care – Learning how to provide compassionate support and services to individuals with diverse lived experiences. Case Management Fundamentals – Exposure to intake processes, needs assessments, and referrals to housing, behavioral health, and employment resources. Crisis Response Skills – Experience in de-escalation techniques and assisting clients through immediate challenges. Cultural Humility in Practice – Building awareness and sensitivity when working with clients from diverse racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Professional Communication & Collaboration – Developing strong interpersonal skills while working alongside interdisciplinary teams of staff, volunteers, and community partners. Program Operations & Coordination – Gaining insight into how nonprofit programs function, including resource distribution and service delivery. Advocacy & Systems Navigation – Understanding community resources and how to connect clients with supportive networks for long-term stability
All students participating in the internship are required to complete mandated reporter training, sexual harassment prevention training, and cybersecurity training prior to or at the start of their placement. These trainings ensure that students understand their legal and ethical responsibilities, are equipped to foster a safe and respectful environment, and are prepared to handle sensitive client information securely. In addition to these requirements, students receive comprehensive onsite orientation and hands-on instruction to prepare them for daily responsibilities within Morning Services. This includes learning how to assist with meal service and resource distribution, support client check-ins and intakes, follow protocols for hygiene and laundry services, and manage supplies effectively. Students will also shadow staff to observe client interactions and service delivery while becoming familiar with organizational policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards. Together, these trainings and practical experiences provide a strong foundation for ethical practice, professional growth, and effective service delivery in the human services field.
